Obituary for Gayle Welch (Hartnett) GAYLE WELCH OBITUARY BENNINGTON, VERMONT Gayle Harnett Welch, age 60, a resident of Division Place in Bennington, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, following a brief illness. She was born in Bennington on July 15, 1957, and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Marilyn (Church) Hartnett. She received her education in local schools, and graduated from Mt. Anthony Union High School in 1976. She married Robert Welch on April 12, 2003 in Bennington, he survives. Gayle is a member of both the Eagles and Moose Clubs in Bennington. She was always there to lend a helping hand to whom ever needed it. Gayle volunteered with several organizations over the years. Besides her husband, she is survived by her brother Louis (Tracy) Skidmore of Pittsfield, MA and her sister Helen Skidmore of Bennington. She leaves her three feline friends: Liza, Felicia and Francine. Gayle is predeceased by her parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 6-8PM. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Cancer Center Community Crusaders.
