Lucy Bradley Greene Holloway September 29 1945 May 14 2018 (age 72)

Lucile Bradley Greene Holloway, better known as Lucy, Grandma Lucy, LuLu, Ms. Lucy, or simply G Lucy if you are as current as she was, passed away at the age of 72 on May 14, 2018 in Park City, Utah. Lucy was born on September 29, 1945 in Montgomery, AL, to the late Dorothy Lucile Douglas Greene and the late Horton Julian Greene. She graduated Milton High School in Alpharetta, GA in 1963, received her undergraduate degree from Mercer University in Macon, GA, was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and received her graduate degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. She was a retired middle school teacher in Fulton County, GA and the loving wife of late Norman (Norm) Paul Brauner. Lucy remained in the Alpharetta/Roswell area until she relocated to Park City following the death of her beloved husband, Norm in 2014, to be near her daughter, Andrea Haas, and her family. Lucy was an accomplished artist in many forms and especially loved watercolor painting, just as her mother Dorothy and grandmother Douglas did. But Lucy also excelled in quilting, acrylic, oil, charcoal, pen and ink, pottery, clay sculpting, dress making, necklace beading, crochet, needlepoint, batiking, and wood carving, just to name a few. Her artistic eye was also evident through her home decorating, fashion, and jewelry, while her love of color was immense – the brighter, the most vivid, the better. Lucy never stopped learning. She took watercolor classes in Georgia with her mother, and Lucy’s exuberant quest for knowledge continued after retirement in more mediums to include live figure drawing, acrylic, and pottery. When she moved to Park City, she added French, Apple skills, and piano, along with painting and drawing classes. She was a voracious reader, enjoying all forms of literature, science fiction, fantasies, non-fiction, regencies, historical novels, mysteries, art histories, and even landscaping manuals. Lucy could discuss all of them with wit and intelligence and was able to bring the larger themes to life and lead others to appreciation of the deeper meanings. It was amazing what she knew! Art history, art theory, world history, fashion, antiques, home design, literature, travel, theatre, dance, gardening, and pop culture. While she knew the past so well, she was very hip and current, quite up on all television shows and celebrities, movies and stars, and even comic book stories. Not too bad for a member of Mensa! No story about Lucy would be complete without sharing her love of collecting. She was the warehouse not only of family stories and history, but also the vintage clothes, antique knickknacks, jewelry, furniture, dishes and glassware. She could recite the previous owner of each item, how and when it was used, and the origins and story of the manufacturer. She could rival any appraiser on Antiques Roadshow. Lucy is survived by her daughter Andrea Haas, son-in-law Kevin, grandchildren Troy, Kyle and Serena, stepson Paul Brauner, stepdaughter-in-law Jess, as well as her siblings. She was exceptionally close to, and survived by, all her brothers and sisters, Allen Greene, Douglas Greene, Barbara (Babbie) Wolf, Mark Greene and Judge Deborah Greene. Lucy loved all of her immediate family, siblings, their spouses and children, and being the matriarch of such a large and diverse family. Friends and family are welcome to attend a celebration of Lucy’s life in Park City, officiated by Pastor Scott Fine, on Monday, June 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain Life Church, 7375 N. Silver Creek Road, Park City, Utah, 84098. A reception at Andrea and Kevin’s home will immediately follow. In Atlanta, a celebration of life reception will be held on Saturday, June 30 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the home of Lucy’s cousin, Deborah Landers and her husband Billy Joe at 315 Walker Street, Villa Rica, Georgia, 30180 for friends and family.
