Obituary for Wanda Marie Childers Wanda Marie Childers Wanda Marie Childers, 85, of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. She was born February 26, 1933 in Helena, Arkansas to Carl Curtis and Juanita Marie LaRue Campbell. She moved to Lubbock in 1938 and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1951. She married James Lamar Childers in 1953. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2008. She was also preceded by her parents; brother, Calvin Elton Campbell; and a sister, Juanita Stephens. Wanda is survived by two sons, Larry Childers and wife Bobbi and David Childers all of Lubbock; a brother, Jack Campbell of Tyler; sister, Peggy Williams of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wanda was a loving and caring wife and mother who was loyal and dedicated to her family, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed many hobbies and activities throughout her life such as singing in the choir, bowling, hunting, fishing, quilting, and painting. Later in life, her favorite pastime was the weekly bible study with her friends, Guilda and Iona. Wanda never made excuses for a weakness but always endeavored to gain strength and understanding from her experiences. Her loving smile and demeanor was compelling, she was a faithful and compassionate friend to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
