Obituary for Robert Preston Calk Robert Preston Calk (Preston), born December 15, 1930 went to be with the Lord and his family on Monday, May 28, 2018. Preston was born in Lytle Texas to Terrell and Pearl Calk. He was the youngest of ten children. He is survived by his children, Robert Preston Calk Jr. and his wife Julie, Sharon Louise Shuler and her husband James, and John Mark Calk and his wife Samantha. He had 9 grandchildren, Erin Calk Brannon, Christopher Shuler, Micah Shuler, Bonham Calk, John Mark Calk Jr., Rachel Calk Mabry, Aric Shuler, Leroy Calk, Jacob Calk, and sixteen great grandchildren. Preston was a member and a deacon at Bellaire Baptist Church. He was a Marine in the Korean War. After he got out of the Military, he went to work as an aircraft mechanic at Kelly Air Force Base. After his retirement from Kelly, he worked at Harlandale Independent School District where he served as a dispatcher for the Police department. He was an active member of the Masons for many years. He was also a member of the United States Marshal’s Posse where he rode in the San Antonio Stock Show Grand Entry. He was the head cook for the Hill Country Trail Riders for ten years, a job he loved to do! Preston loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. He enjoyed being a member of Bellaire Baptist and served faithfully until his health declined. He also loved to hunt deer & turkey and mount his trophy horns. He would often share stories of his life as a true Texas cowboy in his younger days. His horsemanship skills were abundant and shared with many, as an active parent in the local Bexar County 4-H clubs. He enjoyed horses and would have loved to live on a ranch. He was very good with his hands and could problem solve and build anything. The family would like to especially thank Billy Peairs and Maria, his care giver for all their help and love for Dad. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Bellaire Baptist Church, 105 Clovis Pl, San Antonio, Texas 78221. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Interment will follow at Lytle Community Cemetery in Lytle, Texas.
