Marvin Mitchell Watkins, of Beaumont, TX, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 4, 2018. He was born on March 6, 1942 in Birmingham, KY. Mitch was preceded in death by his father and mother, Sanders and Estelle Watkins of Benton, KY and his sister, Sandra Jo Pitt of Deadwood, SD. He is survived by his wife, Janice K. Watkins of Beaumont, TX; daughter, Amber Bristol and his granddaughter, Lexi Bristol pf Madisonville, TN; daughter, Brandi Chicas, her husband Carlos Chicas and their sons, Andres, Sebastian, Ian, Stefano and Valentino of Beaumont, TX; and sons, James Watkins and Jorge Watkins of Beaumont, TX. Mitch worked for the DuPont Company and throughout his career he lived in Wilmington, DE; Memphis, TN and Beaumont, TX. He retired in 1999 while working in Wilmington, DE. Throughout the years, Mitch was very involved with church committees, the Seafarers, and the Arc of Greater Beaumont. He was very much involved with the Arc of Greater Beaumont because of the love he had for the IDD community (Individuals with Intellectual and Development Disabilities). He also had a strong desire and great ability to connect with all kinds of people, and could get them to share their thoughts and feelings. Visitation and a memorial service for Mitch Watkins will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison, Beaumont, TX. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Nita McKnight Parlor, and the memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the Arc of Greater Beaumont, 4330 Westridge Ln., Beaumont, TX 77706; Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison, Beaumont, TX 77706; and the American Cancer Society.
