Charlies “Charlie” Eddreth Martin, 70, a lifelong resident of Millsap, passed away April 28, 2018 peacefully in his home early Saturday morning surrounded by his beloved animals. Charlie was born in Blanco hospital, Blanco, Texas September 9, 1947 to Homer Houston “Boots”, and Estell Joseph “Snuffy” Mullis Martin. Charlie continued to work throughout his school… Read More » years till he graduated from Millsap High. He married Betty, his high school sweetheart in the fall of 1967. He then went to work at General Dynamics in Pre-Fit Wing Division, till Uncle Sam called his name to serve in the U.S. Army where he was transferred to Germany for his tour of duty. Charlie completed his tour and was honorably discharged at a Speck 5 grade and returned to the states in 1971. The Military afforded him the opportunity to attend a carpentry trade school and was able to work in the private sector of construction. After graduation he then went into the commercial construction field and worked all over the Fort Worth/Dallas area for over 40 some years. Charlie was hired to work as Project Manager in Frisco for several years, and then went to Flower Mound oversaw the construction of Parker Square which was his pride and joy and he stayed there till retirement. Charlie had been a workaholic his whole life, loved it and thrived with it. He formed many long-term friendships that he cherished. After retirement he became the caretaker of four homesteads, his two daughters, his father in laws, and his own always making sure all the lawns were kept cut and trimmed. Any maintenance or building projects that needed to be done, he could do almost any chore with a smile. He spent many long hours working in his garden that he took such pride in and would grow many vegetables and fruits to give away to his friends and neighbors, with lots of corn to feed the horses that he spoiled rotten. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Patsy Ruth Martin Cobb Bowles, Mary Etta Martin Jenkins, brother: Jerry Dewayne Martin, and nephew: Scott Allen Martin. Charlie is survived by his wife of 50 years: Betty Mae Wilson Martin, Daughters: Nora Renae Martin Hazelhurst (Wesley Holder), Tammy Dawn Martin Payne (Gene), Grandchildren: Charles James “CJ” Hazelhurst (Stephanie), Robert Joseph “Joey” Hazelhurst Sr., Sydney Estell Payne all of Millsap and Great Grandson: Robert Joseph “RJ” Hazelhurst Jr. of Mineral Wells, Brothers: HT Martin (Jody) of Granbury, Travis Martin (Sally) of Poolville, and Billy Martin (Jeanette) of Cooper, nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday May 1, 2018 from 6p-8p in the Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel located at 913 N. Elm St. Weatherford, Texas Funeral Service is scheduled for Wednesday May 2, 2018 also to be held at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford.
