Bill “Bear” Hunter age 67 passed away May 18th, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born on September 1,1950 in Sioux City, Iowa where he grew up and attended Central High School and where he played football. In the early 1970’s he entered the Air Force and was stationed for a brief time in Vietnam. After marrying his current wife, Mary on June 8th, 1974, they moved to Texarkana, Arkansas where he opened his own Pizza and Pasta Restaurant. After attending massage school, he opened his own business specializing in therapeutic and sports massage. He greatly enjoyed sponsoring young athletes with free massages that helped them to stay healthy, injury free and competitive. A great number of these students were able to win college scholarships in their chosen sport. He also served as soigneur for several cycling teams including the Women’s Olympic Trials Team and the 1996 Tour de France Feminin. His favorite activities after massage were cooking and photography. When asked how he stayed happily married for so many years, he always answered, “I’m a massage therapist, gourmet cook, and hopeless romantic”. And he certainly was all three. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Hunter, two daughters by a previous marriage: Tonya LeClair and her husband, Ed and their son, Brandon and Heather Rollins and her husband, Russell and their son, Hunter. His mother, Evelyn Pedersen; his father, Forest Hunter; and his brother, Duane all preceded him in death. Memorial services are 4:00 pm, Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel.
