Obituary for Samuel E. Reece Samuel E. Reece, 70, of Johnson City, went to be with his LORD Saturday, May 12, 2018 at his home surrounded by loved ones. A native of Johnson City, he is the son of the late Robert and Josephine Goode Reece. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Reece, and brother, Michael Reece. Sam graduated from Boones Creek High School and attended Steed College. He proudly served his country as a Sargent in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era. Sam retired from James H. Quillen VA Medical Center as a CNA after twenty-seven years of service. He was a fantastic and devoted caregiver to his grandchildren, and loved every minute he spent with them. He was very loved and cherished by his children and grandchildren and really cared about people. Sam also enjoyed playing golf and loved animals having four rescue dogs and seven rescue birds. He was a member of East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church. Those left to cherish Sam’s memory include his wife, Sarah, of the home; children, Myria Weems (Allen) of Jonesborough, TN and William McCoy (Leah) of California; siblings, Donna Ball (Darrel) of Jonesborough, TN and Robert Reece (Joyce) of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Alyssa, Alex, and Andrew Weems and Madeline Ruby McCoy; and several nieces and nephews. The family will gather to receive friends at Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 11:00 AM until a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM with Dr. Mark Harrod officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Weems, Alex Weems, Andrew Weems, Jason Ball, and Bill Magill. Robert Reece and Darrel Ball serve as honorary pallbearers.
