Betty Elizabeth Smith transitioned from life to her heavenly home Monday, April 30, 2018 at home with family. She was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. Betty worked at First Tennessee Bank and later SunTrust Bank from where she retired. Preceded in death by her husband, Olden T. Smith and son, William Turner Smith. Left to cherish her memory: daughter, Janelle Smith Jackson; son, Olden Michael (Tanya) Smith; grandchildren: Glenard Cortez Thorne, Jasmine Raschel Jackson, Kristen Nicole Coleman and Jymon Malik Smith; great granddaughter, Paris Ryelee Harris; sisters: Marva L. Anderson (Albert Baah), Sarah Kathleen Jackson and Davelene Austin; brother, Jesse P. (Charlene); a host of other family and friends. Saturday, May 5, 2018, the family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a Homegoing Celebration to follow at Rogers Memorial Baptist Church, 520 College Street. Reverend Dr. Michel S.E. Caldwell officiating. Interment will take place on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at East TN Veterans Cemetery, 2200 Gov. John Sevier Highway, where a white dove release will conclude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church the day of the service.
