Obituary for MSGT Charles J. Smith USAF (Ret) MSGT Charles J. “Chuck” Smith USAF (Ret.), 80, of Summerville, husband of Ruby Virginia Quick Smith, went to his heavenly/eternal home on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Family and friends are invited to attend Mr. Smith’s visitation on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10 o’clock until hour of funeral service at 11 o’clock at Miles Road Baptist Church, 816 Miles Road, Summerville, SC 29485. Mr. Smith was born in Fenton, MI in 1937, son of Raymond Patrick Smith and Mary Lou Bernear Smith. MSGT. Smith served 20 plus years with tours of duty in Vietnam, Germany, England and Taiwan (Twice). He also had duty in Myrtle Beach, Texas (twice) and Hawaii. Among his honors: four Air Force Commendation Medals and Taiwan Order of the Camel. “Chuck” was an encourager, a friend and a caring husband. Oh, how he loved his Lord. “Chuck” leaves behind his beloved wife: Ruby Virginia Quick Smith; two sons: Jim Smith (Dee) and Michael Miller (Christie); one daughter: Vicki Taylor (Dale); seven grandchildren: Shawn, Kelly, Josh, Jessie, Ashley, Sean, and John; seven great grandchildren: Rowan, Parri, Katie, Breanna, Jake, Nick and Marsha; one brother: Glenn Smith (Evelyn); one sister: Carol Ann Day; one niece: Kimberly Holston; two nephews: Jason Baker and Robert Baker. He was predeceased by one sister: Rose Mary Monroe; one brother: Leroy Smith; and one sister in law: Sallie Smith. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Miles Road Baptist Church, 816 Miles Road, Summerville, SC 29485.
