Obituary of Harry Albert Harry S. Albert, 83, of Latrobe, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 in UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born November 22, 1934 in Latrobe, a son of the late David E. and Esther (Saxman) Albert. Harry was a graduate of Latrobe High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University in 1956. He then served in the US Air Force and was stationed in Japan from 1957 until 1960. He was honorably discharged in 1963 as a Captain. He was a member of the Penn State Alumni Association and the Military Officers Association of America. Prior to retirement, Harry was an engineer and employed by the former Vulcan Mold and Iron Co. in Latrobe from 1963 until 1990 serving in several capacities. He then developed his own business as a consultant of ISO quality assurance until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Charter Oak Church in Greensburg and a long-time member of the Latrobe Rotary Club where he was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow four times. He was instrumental in SCORE-Westmoreland and a member of the American Society for Quality. Harry enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling, the performing arts, and Penn State Football as a 34 year season ticket holder. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his brother, David E. Albert in 2000. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn (Lime) Albert, two children, Harry S. Albert II and his wife Diane of Durham, NC, and Marcia Hemminger and her husband Darren of Waterford, VA; five grandchildren: David W. Albert, Sara Tapp (David), Eva Yerkes (Corey), Grete Lenz and Keely Hemminger , two great grandchildren, Ellie Tapp and Everett Gridley, and two step children, Nona Marie Peachey (Douglas) of Peoria, AZ, and Olin M. Hyde (Lydia) of San Diego, CA. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday, April 19th in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday in Unity Chapel, 114 Chapel Lane, Latrobe, with his pastor, the Rev. Chris Whitehead officiating. Everyone please go directly to Unity Chapel. Military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard will be held immediately following services in Unity Cemetery.
