Gary D. Johnson, 76, Creekside, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. The son of William and Margaret (Witherite) Johnson, he was born March 10, 1942, in Luciousboro, PA. Gary was a truck driver for 40 years, having driven for Mears Coal Co. and C.L. Ruffner. He was also a veteran having served in the Army. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to cook them meals. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who enjoyed and cherished all of his grandchildren. Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Beverly (Larson) Johnson, whom he wed July 16, 1966; three daughters, Dana Kunkle, Creekside, Vicki (Greg) Berkey, Lancaster, PA, and Shanna (David) Reed, Wilkes Barre, PA; grandson, Gary (Emily) Kunkle; four granddaughters, Alexa Kunkle, Emerald, Hayley, and Ezra Reed; and baby Reed due in November; two great grandchildren, Jenna and Hunter Kunkle; four brothers, Buck, Ken, Dick, and Larry; and a brother-in-law, John Larson. Preceding Gary in death were his parents; sister, Arlene; and four brothers, Jim, Don, Ron, and Kevin. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 10 to 11 am at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home. A Memorial will immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Dr. Daryl Jeffers, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Academy, 11394 Rte. 286 Hwy E., Clymer, PA 15728.
