She was 83. Betty-Lou born in Philadelphia to Catherine (nee Bartholf) and Louis Hunter. Betty-Lou was born and raised in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia. With her father being a small business owner in the community, she grew up appreciating all that the community can offer to support families and individuals and continued that tradition with her own family. In 1952 she took a road trip out to Kodiak, Alaska to visit her brother Jim, stationed there during his tenure in the US Navy. On her way to the base, she happened to meet a handsome man on the bus. Out of happenstance, that man was William Graves, who was going to be a blind date setup by Jim later that week. Within months of that meeting Betty-Lou and Bill married and settled down to establish a family. Betty-Lou devoted her life to her husband and family. Ensuring her home was filled with love, crafts, traditions, and sweet tea. Betty-Lou was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star’s, established by the Shiners. She established the Red Hatter’s of Southampton and organized trips for women to attend plays and performances, meetup at local restaurants, and a community to continue the strong bond of sisterhood. She was a member of choirs throughout her life, including Gloria Dei and Immanuel Lutheran. Her hobbies included bird-watching, another tradition passed down to her by her mother, and one she passed down through her lineage to her own children. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, William N.; her children, Cathy-Anne Koller, Susan Graves, Beth Schindele, Sally Sheridan, and Timothy Graves (Celeste); grandchildren, Katrina, Joey, Megan, Jon, Robert, Kristen, Jac queline , , Daniel, Justin, Tyler, Hannah and Kevin; 12 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Edward “Ted” Hunter (Betty). Betty-Lou was preceded in death by her brother, James B Hunter Printable Share on Facebook Memorial Tribute Website Proudly Provided by: McGhee Funeral Home, Inc. 690 Belmont Avenue Southampton, Pennsylvania, United States Phone: 215-355-0902 Map | Directions | Contact Us
