Ronald Dean Doughty was born in Ardmore Oklahoma. His family moved to South Oklahoma City in 1938. He Graduated from Capitol Hill in 1954. He ran track in high school, was a student manager of the football team, and was president of the Chieftain Pep Squad. Go Redskins! He attended Young Life, a high school Christian club. After his return… Read More » from Germany, he and his first wife Virginia Ann Brown, were married in 1960. They had two children, son Ronald, JR and daughter Jennifer. They were together 44 years until her passing in 2004. He taught School in the OKC Public School System for 25 Years. After retiring from teaching, he continued working at Tinker Air Force Base where he helped organize the base sports program until 1998. The highlight of his work career was working at Falls Creek Baptist Assembly during the summers from 1966 to 1988. He completed his undergraduate studies at Central State College in 1965, and his Masters in 1967. He was a 3 year letterman on the track team while at Central State College. His teaching career consisted of Physical Education and Social Studies at Roosevelt JR High and Jefferson Middle School where he also coached basket ball and track. He became a Christian at the age of 16, and served in several southern Baptist churches as teacher, treasurer and Deacon. He became a member of First Baptist Church of Mustang in December 2009. He was involved in several activities and the Lunch Program at the Mustang Senior Center. Ronald was preceded in death by his wife Virginia (Brown) Doughty of 44years, parents J.L. & Lula Doughty, sister Joyce Lyons, brother-in-law Bruce Brown, and in-laws Roy and Genevieve Brown. Survivors include his wife Mary Lou of the home, son Ronald Jr. & wife Shelly of Okmulgee, daughter Jennifer Amburn & husband Craig of Norman. Seven grandchildren, Tyler, Andrea, & Brantley Doughty, Jessica Rice , Erica Gorthy, and Mitchell & Shelby Paxton, three great-grandchildren: Kyla & Savannah Rice and Jodie Doughty, stepson Ronnie Haskins & wife Sherri of Mustang, along with their children and grand-children, brother John Doughty of Salida, CO., sisters Jerry Hart of OKC, June Nicholson of Brookings, OR, and Wanda Engel of Topeka, KS, brother-in-law Tom Brown & wife Bonnie, sister-in-law Kathy Brown, along with numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Mustang, OK with interment following in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City, OK.
