Shirley A. Poledna, (nee-Kroon Van Diest), 88, of Elyria passed away Friday May 4, 2018 at the Lifecare Center of Elyria. She was born July 28, 1929 in Cleveland and was an Elyria resident since 2014. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and nature, especially owls. Survivors include her sons, David (Holly) Poledna of Elyria and Daniel (Lynn) Poledna of Mooresville, IN.; grandchildren, Scott Poledna of Elyria, Brian (Doreen) Poledna of Elyria, Malia (Chris) West of Grafton… Read More » and Karisa (Eric) Wildenheim of Elyria and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Poledna, brother, John Kroon Van Diest and parents, John and Anna Kroon Van Diest. The family will receive friends Wednesday May 9, 2018 in the gathering area of St. Jude Church 590 Poplar St., Elyria from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in the church. The Rev. Fr. Frank P. Kosem, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria.
