Dorothy L. Mason (nee Smith), 86, of Elyria passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at University Hospital Cleveland. She was born June 3, 1931 in Ada, MI. and was a graduate of Wellington High School and Oberlin Business School. Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she also taught Sunday School and also a member of Methodist Mates. She worked for The Ward Co. and Bendix. Survivors include her daughters Christy (Terrance) Cooney and Deby Mason both of Cleveland; sons Garry (Debbie) of Ashland and Tim (Michele) of Elyria; sisters Mary Longacre of Elyria, Carolyn Smith of Wellington. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; parents Blaine and Mabel Smith (nee Parmenter); sisters Jeanette Smith, Virginia Miller; brothers Gale, Ivan, and Leroy. Family will receive friends 2-5 PM Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626, where funeral services will be at 1 PM Monday, May 7, 2018. Rev. Dalton Love will officiate. Burial Brookdale Cemetery (Elyria).
