William A. Phelps, 90, died Friday, May 18, 2018 at Summit Place. He was born October 25, 1927 in Los Angeles, CA, a son of the late James Cash Phelps and Helen Anderson Phelps. Bill served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II and and then received an Electrical Engineering degree from Oklahoma University. Bill retired from General Electric Company as a District Manager and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. As an avid traveler, he explored the United States… Read More » in his RV and was a skilled craftsman and woodworker. A service in celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in the Chapel of J.B. Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte with The Reverend Jerry Woolery officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife, Annette Bullard Phelps; his three children, Chuck Phelps, Susan Phelps, and Mary Jean Easom; 4 grandchildren, Chris Phelps, Callie Whiddon, Kate Easom, and Caroline Easom; and 3 great-grandchildren.
