Mrs. Mallie Barnes Shelton, age 87, of Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away on May 9, 2018, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. She was born in Surry County on May 11,1930 to the late Samuel Edgar Barnes and Cora Heath Barnes. Mrs. Shelton is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Eads and husband Jimmy; two grandchildren, Jimmy Dale Eads and wife, Lisa and Dean Eads and wife, Joan; and four great-grandchildren, Lindsey Eads and husband, James, Mackenzie Eads, Dakota Eads and Destiny Eads/ She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Shelton; her parents, Samuel Edgar Barnes and Cora Heath Barnes; five sisters, Hallie Lane, Hazel Moser, Ruby Moser, Odell Angel and Margie Cain; and five brothers, Charlie, Bill, Gene, Hubert and an infant brother. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Chamblin and Freddie Bullington officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Woltz Hospice Home and Central Continuing Care for the loving care that was given to her. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017 or Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, 164 Sulphur Springs Church Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
