Obituary for Jonell Pope Thomas Jonell Pope Thomas, 79, of Waxhaw, NC, died Monday, May 28, 2018, at CMC-Union in Monroe, NC. Jonell was born in Charlotte on November 29, 1938, the daughter of William Franklin and Anna Lavinia Sanders Pope. She grew up in Charlotte and blessed with a natural talent for working with numbers, made a career as a bookkeeper for retail grocery stores. On April 3, 1957, she married Hoyle Thomas, who preceded her in death on May 18, 2013. She enjoyed many things in life. Going to the beach, butterflies and reading were always favorites but in the end, what she cherished most was time spent with friends and family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Jonell is survived by her children: Jeff (wife Keitha) Thomas of Murrells Inlet, SC, and William (Teresa) Thomas of Mint Hill, NC; and a sister, Judy (husband Jim) Sietmann of Charlotte. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Burial will take place at 11 am on Friday, June 1, at Sharon Memorial Park.
