Virginia Ginny Glassey 2018

Virginia Glassey of Newburgh, a longtime area resident entered into rest Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Wingate at Beacon. She was 95. The daughter of the late Frank and Marion Snyder Thayer, Ginny was born January 22, 1923 in Newburgh. She was married to John B. Glassey Jr., who predeceased her. A graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Ginny worked for the Newburgh Enlarged City School District at New Windsor School until her retirement in 1978. She was a longtime member of Gardnertown United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, John B. Glassey III and his wife, Sylvia of New Windsor; sister, Barbara Maher of Newburgh; sister-in-law, Barbara Thayer of Newburgh, grandchildren, John B. Glassey IV, Kari-Ann Antonelli and her husband, Vincent; great grandchildren, Vincent and Charlie Antonelli and many nieces and nephews. In addition her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers: Frank, Clif and Jack Thayer; sisters: Patricia Thayer Showler, Vivian Thayer Hall and Betty Thayer Slenker and great-grandchild, Francesca Antonelli. Visitation for family and friends will take place Sunday February 25th from 3 pm to 6 p.m. at White Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Rd., Town of Newburgh. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m., Monday, February 26th at Gardnertown United Methodist Church, 1191 Union Ave., Town of Newburgh. Pastor Ross Topliff will officiate.
