Obituary of Sylvia Manez Sylvia Marie (Rotella) Manez, of Massapequa, NY, and formerly of Rutland, Vt., died peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2018, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 14, 1921, in Rutland, VT, the daughter of Mariano and Carmela (Cala) Rotella. The heart of our family; she led softly by example, nurturing our souls and stomachs. She loved tending to her many gardens, taking evening drives to the beach with her husband Joe, and playing Friday night Uno games with her children (& spouses). Mostly she enjoyed watching her family continuing to expand and grow with love, happiness, faith and respect; values she will continue to pass on for generations to come. Mrs. Manez is survived by her brother Guido Rotella and sister in-law Laura Rotella; her children, Joseph R. (wife Kathy), Alicia (husband Bob), Raymond (wife Joanne), Michael (wife Pat), Patrice (husband Rich), and Bob (wife Sue); 16 grandchildren, and 3 (soon to be 4) great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph E. Manez; and her brother and sisters, Josephine, Irene, Nancy, Edith, Dea, and Roy. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 7 at 9:45am at Maria Regina R.C. Church in Seaford. Burial to follow immediately after service at Long Island National Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held Sunday, May 6 from 2-4 pm, & 7-9 pm at William E. Law Funeral Home in Massapequa. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sylvia Manez’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Mount Saint Joseph Academy (Rutland, Vt.), and the American Heart Association.
