Obituary of Laurie Forest Laurie J. Forest, entered into Heaven on May 5, 2018 to join her grandparents waiting with love and open arms. Laurie was born in Liberty, NY to Richard and Ruth Forest of Hurleyville. Laurie grew up in Hurleyville, graduated from Fallsburg High School, Barbizon Modeling School and attended Broome County Community College in Binghamton, NY. Throughout her life Laurie gave herself to anyone in need. Intelligent, strong-willed, independent and compassionate, Laurie’s life motto was “I can’t or never, is not a part of my vocabulary.” If anyone needed an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on or just a cup of coffee her heart and door were always open. Laurie was not blessed with children thus her little terriers, Chelsy and Oreo were her special little girls whom she adored. Through Laurie’s love of animals she was passionately involved in numerous rescues, especially Jack Russell Terriers. Laurie leaves behind a wonderful loving family her parents, Richard and Ruth, and one very special brother Ryan. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, leaving foot prints of ever lasting memories on many hearts. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Laurie’s name can be made to the Jack Russell Rescue Foundation or to the Lupus Foundation. Laurie fought a fierce longtime battle with Lupus. In celebration of Laurie’s life a mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter’s Church, Liberty St. Monticello, NY 12701 on Saturday, May 12th at 3pm. Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm on Sunday, May 13th at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. Interment will follow at Hurleyville Cemetery. All friends and family may join us at Bernie’s in Rock Hill, NY following the services.
