Obituary of John “Jack” Tibbitts Sr. JOHN “JACK” H. TIBBITTS SR. Latham- John “Jack” H. Tibbitts Sr., 76 of Latham, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Albany on April 11, 1942, he was the son of the late James J. and Helen A. (Ray) Tibbitts. Jack was married to Jo Ann (Di Piazza) Tibbitts on May 18, 1963 and would have celebrated 55 years of love and devotion this Friday May 18, 2018. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Guard 109th in Schenectady from 1962-1970. Jack was the Central Office Forman with New York Telephone in Albany for 26 years, retiring in 1992. Then in 1994 he went to work for Mid-Hudson Telecommunications that became Tech Valley Communications in Albany. He was a member of the Colonie Elks #2192 and was a Shop Steward for C.W.A. In addition to his beloved wife Jo Ann, he is survived by his loving children John H. Tibbitts Jr. of Jay, NY, Stephanie Tibbitts of Newport, RI and Michele (Mark) Esposito of Niskayuna, his 4 cherished grandchildren Ryan and Matthew Tibbitts and Matthew and Katie Esposito as well as his sister Marcia Stapleton of Loudonville and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his Brother James Tibbitts Jr. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday May 15, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Jack’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday May 16 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke and Fr. George Flemming officiating. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Albany Memorial Hospital Emergency Room and the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at St. Peters for the care and compassion they gave towards Jack. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110 or to the Wildwood Programs, 1190 Troy Schenectady Rd., Latham, NY 12110.
