Obituary for James Patrick Begley James Patrick ‘Jim’ Begley, Sr., age 72, died peacefully surrounded by his family, on March 9, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. James Patrick “Jim” Begley Sr. was born July 8, 1945 in New York, NY and was proud of his Irish parents, the late Joseph Francis and Teresa McCoy Begley. He was also preceded in death by his brothers; Michael Joseph and Joseph Gerard Begley and his sister; Teresa Mary Dowd. Jim proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 through 1967 achieving the rank of Sergeant and worked as an Aircraft Launch and Recovery Technician during the Vietnam War and maintained special comradery with members of the USMC SATS/EAF Association. He had a long career in the construction industry and is regarded fondly by Saint Nicholas for his special appointments honoring Santa Claus during the Christmas Season. He is survived by daughter; Irene Begley (Joe) Miller, son; James Patrick (Pat) Begley Jr., grandchildren; Julia Miller, Joel (Patrick) Begley, Paul Miller, Tessie Miller, sister; Catherine Anne (Jim Tomlinson) Begley. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to: National Down Syndrome Society, 8 East 41st Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
