Carol W. Wallace, 77, of Catskill passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. A lifelong Catskill resident, she was born to Godfred and Luella Lasher Wilson. Carol graduated from Catskill High School in 1958. She attended Lake Erie College in Painesville, OH and later finished at Russell Sage. She began her career in advertising where she worked on the political campaign of Congressman Hamilton Fish IV. Carol was as a PE teacher for the Catskill Central School District. She worked at the March of Dimes. She started out as a caseworker for the Greene County Department of Social Services in 1975 where she served as Commissioner from 1981 until her retirement in 2003. Carol was an avid bridge player, extensive traveler, voracious reader and enjoyed doing the New York Times Crossword puzzle. Carol is survived by her sister, Barbara Summa (Vito) of Leeds and her children, Jennifer Tsai (Wade), of Seattle, John W. Wallace (Debra), also of Seattle, Carrie E. Wallace of Westerlo and Mark Klett (Kristine) Of Myrtle Beach, grandchildren Daniel South, Zane and Gavin Vedder, Jack and Nathan Wallace and Anthony and Nicholas Klett. In addition to her parents Carol was predeceased by her ex-husband, Jack Wallace, in 1992 and companion Richard Canniff in 2015. Carol’s family would like to thank St Peter’s Hospice for their care in her final days Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Hgts., Catskill. On Monday, family and friends may gather at the funeral home between 11:30 – 12:00 for a Celebration of Life at 12:00. Interment will follow in Town of Catskill Cemetery.
