Obituary for Thomas G “Gil” Black Thomas “Gil” Black, 96, of Manchester Township, formerly of Roselle Park, died peacefully on May 16, 2018. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Roselle Park over 40 years. He also lived down the shore area in his later years. Gil retired after over 30 years as a Machinist with DEM Molding fabricators of Hillside. He loved to help kids with Little League coordinating the Umpires. Also, he was Scout Master for Troop 52 of Roselle Park. Mr. Black proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps in India and Burma during World War II. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Varian and by his son Thomas Black. Surviving are his son, John Black and his wife Maryann; two grandchildren, Amy Black and husband Christopher Wright and Erin Black Tripp and husband Matthew Tripp; also, two precious great granddaughters, Emily Black-Wright and Julia Hope Tripp. Visiting will be Wednesday, May 23rd, starting 9am with a Celebration of Life Prayer Service starting at 10am, in the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. A private burial will follow to Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Thomas “Gil” Black’s memory to; St. Elizabeth Chapel By-the-Sea, 5 Third Avenue, Ortley Beach, NJ 08751 (732-830-1425) stelisabethschapel.org/, would be appreciated.
