Our loving mother, wife, friend, grandmother, aunt and angel, Elena J. Le Pera, 81, has gone home to our Father in Heaven in the midst of a long, brave and valiant battle with cancer. Mom passed away early Saturday morning, May 19th at around 12:37 am surrounded by her immediate family, in Naples, Florida, her favorite place to vacation, after a beautiful sunny day. Mom was born in North Bergen, NJ in 1936 to Rose and Vincent Maggiano who immigrated from Apulia, Italy. Mom was survived by our father – her devoted husband of 57 years, Anthony, her brother, Louis Maggiano, daughter Luisa Le Pera-Fox, son’s Gabriel Paul and Paul Maximillian Le Pera and 4 beautiful grandchildren, Alessandra 20, Paul 18 and Victoria 15 Le Pera and Sebastian Fox 17. Mom was a loving compassionate disciple of our Lord who’s life sincerely embodied Jesus’ word. She devoted her life to the servitude of her family, friends, the oppressed, and the under privileged. “Grammy” as her grandchildren called her blessed our family gatherings with her charisma and one amazing meal after another inheriting an authentic Italian culinary skill from her mom, Rose. Elena loved being outdoors with her family: Pumpkin and Apple picking, seashell hunting, nature walks and gardening. She was an angel to many and her love will be cherished for eternity. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects Thursday evening, May 24th from 6-9pm at the Church of the Presentation – 271 West Saddle River Rd., Upper Saddle River, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at the same location on Friday morning at 10am.
