Wilfred Ideus, 90, of Beatrice, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. He was born on July 15, 1927 at rural Beatrice, was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Beatrice and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. He grew up in the Adams area and attended Remmers School. He married Eleanor Buss on July 9, 1949 at Beatrice. He was a long time farmer until retiring and moving to Beatrice in 1994. He had served on the Hooker Township Board for six years and was a member of Eagles Aerie #513 of Beatrice. He enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling on television, and playing cards with friends. Survivors include sons, Robert (Doreen) Ideus of Beatrice, Eldon (Debra) Ideus of Adams, and Duane (Kathy) Ideus of Burchard; son-in-law, Larry Schultz of Tecumseh; ten grandchildren, Jody Schultz, Jennifer Schultz (Becky), Janelle Byfield, Michelle (Colin) Wiggins, Shane (Rachel) Ideus, Luke (Laura) Ideus, Chad (Sarah) Ideus, Anita (Kyle) Ruse, Emily (Eliot) Bohling, Benjamin (Kristine) Ideus; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Karen) Ideus of Beatrice; sisters, RoJane Wolken, Rosetta Swarthout, Roberta (Jack) Corey and Roseann (Jerald) Corey all of Beatrice; host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jurgen and Tillie Parde Ideus; step-mother, Emma Ideus; his wife, Eleanor, who died on July 26, 2017; daughter, Arliss Schultz; brothers, Willie Ideus and wife Leona, and George Ideus and his wife Velma; brothers-in-law, Albert Swarthout and Lester Wolken. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Kathee Forrest officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held 9:45 A.M. on Saturday in the fellowship room of the church. A memorial has been established to Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Good Samaritan both of Beatrice with Gerald and Denise Ideus in charge. The body will lie in state at Fox Funeral Home on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. and then one hour preceding the service at the church on Saturday.
