Mrs. Ruth E. (Wood) White, 94, formerly of S. Carlisle Street, Greencastle, PA passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Quincy Village nursing home where she had resided for the past few months. Born August 20, 1923 in Toledo, OH she was the daughter of the late Milo and Henrietta (Sipes) Wood. She lived in Toledo until moving to Greencastle in 1961. She and her late husband, Mr. Clifford K. White, Jr. were married January 23, 1944 in Virginia. Mr. White passed away March 19, 1973. Mrs. White was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA as a key punch operator. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #6319, Greencastle, the American Legion Post #373, Greencastle, and in Toledo she was a member of an Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mrs. White enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, golfing, playing solitaire, camping at Raystown Lake where she had a camper for several years, and spending time with her family often at their frequent cook-outs. Mrs. White will be remembered as a strong, independent, and caring woman. She is survived by three children, Clifford K. White, III and his wife Evelyn, Constance R. Vanderau, and Robert M. White and his wife Debby, all of Greencastle; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by a sister, Jean Webb; a brother, John Wood; and a great-granddaughter, Eva James Vanderau. Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 18, 2018 in the Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle, PA with the Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday morning in the funeral home.
