Obituary of Lorraine Hemze Lorriane Hemze, age 89, of Olivia died Friday, May 11, 2018 at her home. Funeral services are Thursday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Olivia with Pastor Yong Ok Son officiating. Burial is in the Olivia Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and continues Thursday at the church for one hour prior to the services. Lorraine June Hemze was born June 8, 1928 at Kerkhoven, MN, to Cornell and Ellen (Peterson) Anderson. She grew up on the family farm and after her school years assisted her parents with the farm work. On February 2, 1949 Lorraine married Edward Hemze in Kerkhoven. They lived in Olivia and had been married 62 years when he died in 2011. Lorraine was a faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church in Olivia. Lorraine enjoyed animals, birds, flowers, gardening, and was an excellent cook. Music was an important part of her life and she taught herself guitar and harmonica. Lorraine always put her family first and will also be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. Lorraine is survived by her nine children: Dan and Betty Harrier of New London, Earl (and Paulette) Hemze of Clermont, FL, Allen Hemze of Palm Desert, CA, Leland Hemze of Brooklyn Park, Faye (and Larry) Kidrowski of Clara City, Paul (and Pam) Hemze of Sacred Heart, Annette (and LaDon) Henslin of Bird Island, Karen Borden of Olivia, and David (and Julie) Hemze of Maple Grove; her 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Dianne Paulson of Superior, WI. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ed; her daughter-in-law Linda Hemze; her son-in-law Don Borden; her granddaughter Rachel Hemze; her great-granddaughter Amelia Hughes; and her three sisters: Carol Hanson Glembin, Mae Sweep, and Grace Thorson.
