Mr. Jerry G. Smith, 78, of Barkdoll Road, Ringgold, MD, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 4, 1939 in Ringgold, MD, he was the son of the late Geary L. and Minta V. (Creager) Smith. He was a lifelong resident of the Ringgold area. He and his wife of over 58 years, Betty L. (Kint) Smith, were married on October 8, 1960 in Beaver Creek, MD. They moved to their present residence in 1969. Mr. Smith was employed at Henicle’s Market, Waynesboro for over 53 years, retiring as the store manager in 2008. He was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ and enjoyed car shows, NASCAR racing and camping. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children: Darris L. Smith and his wife, Shelby of Greencastle, PA, Diana Kreps and her husband, Thomas of Waynesboro, Denise Henry and her husband, Greg of Ringgold, and Derek Smith and his wife, Rhonda of Smithsburg, MD; four grandchildren, Jamie Garvin of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dustin Price of Waynesboro, Ashley Price of Mechanicsburg, PA and Sarah Henry of Ringgold; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Duane D. Smith; and seven siblings: Eugene Smith, Richard Smith, Ray Vernon Smith, Virginia Kriner, Louise Eakle, Mary Catherine Schubelek, and Edith Brake. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 26, 2018, in Ringgold Church of Christ, 14420 Barkdoll Road, Hagerstown, MD with Pastor Donald E. Conley and Pastor Jeff Tomlian officiating. Burial will follow in Ringgold Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday evening, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA.
