Obituary of Duane Dean Duane Dean, of Hutchinson and formerly of Circle Pines, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Harmony River in Hutchinson at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 26 days. Funeral services are Sunday, April 15th at 3:00 p.m. at Swedlanda Lutheran Church, rural Hector. Pastor Charles Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for Duane is Sunday at the church from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia. Duane Lawrence Dean was born June 7, 1938 on a farm in Martinsburg Township, rural Hector, MN, being the third of four sons of Edwin and Lillie (Johnson) Dean. Duane was baptized and confirmed at Swedlanda Lutheran Church of rural Hector. He attended District 83 School in Renville County and graduated from Hector High School in 1956, then attended Lutheran Bible Institute. Duane was a skilled carpenter and worked independently and for many years for the Dennison Window Company doing siding and window remodeling. In the early 70’s he built two homes in Circle Pines, living in one until he moved to The Pines in Hutchinson in 2015, to be near family. Duane was active in Bible Studies and attended North Heights Lutheran Church for many years. His faith in God was very important to him and he enjoyed answering phones as a volunteer for the Billy Graham Crusades. Duane spent lots of good times with his brothers and their families, going on fishing trips, spending weekends at Lake Kandiyohi, playing baseball, cards and games, and celebrating holidays. Duane was a gentle soul who made friends easily, loved the Lord, and will be greatly missed. Duane was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Dean, his father, Edwin Dean, and his brother, Dale Dean. He is survived by his brother, Orville (Doris) Dean of Hector, sister-in-law, Joyce Dean of Hutchinson, and brother, Gary (Gail) Dean of Hutchinson, nieces and nephews, Brenda Jensen of Hector, Larry (Kathy) Dean of Hector, Jennifer (Greg) Kumsher of Garner, Iowa, Kim (Tom) Rasmussen of Valdosta, Georgia, Terry (Melissa) Dean of Hutchinson, Naomi (Ethan) Dean of Plymouth, Erik Dean of Hector, and Carla (Don) Kilty of Minnetrista, and by many great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
