Carol Ann Henicle 2018

Mrs. Carol Ann (King) Henicle, 73, of Partridge Drive, Waynesboro, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in her home. Born May 27, 1944 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Norman C. and Marie (Dixon) King. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area. She graduated from Waynesboro Area High School in 1962 (last class to graduate as building became East Junior High). She then attended Hagerstown Junior College and graduated from Shippensburg State College in 1966 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She later completed graduate work at Penn State, Shippensburg, and Mount St. Mary’s. Carol taught first and third grades at Shadyside Elementary in Suitland, MD, from 1966-1968. She then returned to Waynesboro and taught second grade at Hooverville Elementary for 33 years, retiring in 2001. The following year she began teaching for the PA Farm Bureau on a Mobile AG Science Lab, which she did for several years. She was a member of The Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, PSEA-NEA retired, Waynesboro Country Club, Renfrew Museum and Park, Renfrew Institute, and Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary. Carol enjoyed being active in her community, including The Waynesboro Church of the Brethren (Pastoral Relations, Leadership, and Sunday School teacher), Renfrew Institute (Membership committee), Renfrew Park, Historical Society volunteer, Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary’s Scholarship Committee, Shippensburg University Alumni Board of Directors, Shippensburg University Elementary Education Board, and Shippensburg University Regional Council. Her many lifetime highlights include her passion for teaching; acting, directing, and producing WAEA and high school musicals and plays; many trips to New York City; travel (U.S. and Europe); Who’s Who in Education; Exceptional service award from Shippensburg University; and Published in NEA Today and The Mailbox for teachers. She was the last of her immediate family. However, she is survived by many cousins and numerous good friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Chester King, Jr. in 1942. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 21, 2018, in The Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church Street, with Pastor John Weber officiating. There will be a reception in fellowship hall at the church following the service on Monday. It was her wish to have no public viewing and for burial to be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Hooverville Elementary School Library, 10829 Buchanan Trail East, Waynesboro, PA 17268; The Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S.
