Shirley Ann Spletzer, 87, of Berrien Springs, died Monday, April 30, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Per Shirley’s wishes, no service will be held. Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs, has been entrusted with cremation arrangements. Online memories may be shared at www.allredfuneralhome.com. Shirley was born October 8, 1930, in Benton Harbor, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Boese) Ridenour.… Read More » She graduated in the Class of 1948 from St. Joseph High School. On June 3, 1950, in St. Joseph, she married Louis Spletzer. Shirley worked in the banking and accounting business for 38 years (People’s State Bank, St. Joseph; Roger Menchinger, CPA; Pullins Accounting Service, Dowagiac; Smith Construction, Buchanan; Country Touch Furniture, Dowagiac), along with serving on the Board of the Berrien County Youth Fair in Berrien Springs. She initiated the quest for the first Fair Computer Operating System for Exhibitor Entries, and her title became Director of Computer Operations/Entry, a position she held from 1984-2005. She was also co-editor of the annual Premium Book, and she was the first computer payroll courier for the Intermediate School District (now RESA). She is survived by her husband, Louis; three daughters: Debra (Rick) Nelson, Paula (Jack) Lybrook, Linda Spletzer; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Patsy Pullins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald Ridenour; and son, Wayne Spletzer.
