Philip K. Thomas, of Portland, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at home after a short illness. He was born on March 7, 1939 the son of Charles and Elizabeth Thomas in Portland. He married Sherilyn Burgess on August 31, 1957. Phil retired from T.R.W. after 34 years of service. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, gambling and his later years loved traveling to Texas in the winter. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sherilyn; children, Debra (Tim) Colley of Ionia, Dennis (Tina) Thomas of Houston, TX, Denise (Bill) Epps of Ionia, and Diane Moore of Hastings; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Charles (Marlene) Thomas, Jr., Larry (Rosie) Thomas, Robert (Pat) Thomas, and William (Barb) Thomas; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cat, Blurp II. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Letisha Bowman at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. Interment will be at Portland Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
