MILLBURY – Isabelle L. (Hairyes) Lyons, 96, was called home to the Lord May 25, 2018. Isabelle was born on November 19, 1921 in Millbury and remained here all her life. She was the daughter of Frederick and Lorretta (Minney) Hairyes, granddaughter of Arthur and Mary (Army) Minney. She attended Millbury Schools and started working at 15 to help out the family as the oldest daughter of five sisters. She was a self-taught talented seamstress and dressmaker for over 75 years, having her own business in her home. She loved spending time with family and friends vacationing at Welches Grove Campground, Cape Cod, Florida and Hawaii. Isabelle loved to do crewel/embroidery, sewing, bingo, playing cards, coloring, scratching scratch tickets, all the family parties, helping out at her daughter Karen’s Salon and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Millbury Senior Center, St. Brigid’s Golden Years, Grafton Senior Center and Auburn Senior Center where she would drive all her friends to play bingo and cards. Her later years she enjoyed playing cards and bingo in her community room at her apartment building. She was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Church in Sutton where her and her husband Jim were founders of the St. Mark’s Parish club and ran many flea markets, bus trips and other fundraisers. Isabelle was predeceased in 1995 by her loving husband of 53 years, James J. Lyons, who was the love of her life. She leaves 3 daughters, Karen Gagliardi and her fiancé Steven Lange of Millbury; grandsons Cory Gagliardi of Millbury and Jake Gagliardi and his partner Keith Boisvert of Boston; granddaughters Rachael and Haley Lange of Sutton. Judith George Barrett and her husband Sam Barrett of Tarpon Springs, Florida; granddaughters Melanie George Sartori and her husband Dave Sartori of Douglas. Jessica George Cleary and her husband Patrick Cleary of Swansea. Deanna Barrett Solgat and Brian Barrett of Florida. Ruth Mazur and her husband John Mazur of Gillette, New Jersey; grandson Jeremy Mazur and his wife Cathy Mazur of New Jersey. Twelve great grandchildren, Symantha Sartori, Mac Sartori, Amelia Cleary, Georgia Cleary, Casey Mazur, Hayden Mazur, Patrick Cleary, Heather Cleary, Arron Solgat, Katelyn Solgat, Vivian Barrett, Kelly Barrett, also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. Besides her husband, Isabelle is predeceased by her sisters Gladys Hughes, Marie Lemay, Mildred Nelson, Dorothy Amour and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Isabelle was a strong woman who was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. We would like a special thank you to all her friends at Center View Apartment for their kindness and friendship. Her devoted daughter Karen who was her caregiver and for her unconditional love. Maryann Corriveau who has been her nurse and friend for many years. Her granddaughter Melanie and grandson Cory for their loving care. Dr. Reka Nair, Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center, Northbridge third floor nursing staff, Salmon Hospice and Katrina and Jason. We will be forever grateful for the wonderful care you all gave our mother. Family and friends will honor and remember Isabelle’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Friday, June 1st from 4 to 8 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 2nd at 10 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church, 356 Boston Road in Sutton. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
