Harry G. Mandragouras 84, loving husband of Joan (Jachowicz) Mandragouras, died Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Beverly Hospital. Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late George and Helen (Grevais) Mandragouras. He graduated from Peabody High School, class of 1952 where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball and was later inducted into the Peabody Hall of Fame for all three sports. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard. Mr. Mandragouras had been employed in management for over forty years for the West Lynn Creamery in Lynn until the time of his retirement. Due to his love for history and art, Harry began working part time following his retirement with the Peabody Essex Museum. A longtime resident of Peabody before moving to Beverly, he was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody as well as it’s Men’s Club. He was also a Mason and member of Jordan Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Peabody. Harry was a loving father and grandfather who coached his sons and other young men in Beverly while they played Pop Warner Football, Babe Ruth and Pony League Baseball. He never missed a ballgame played by his sons or grandsons. He especially liked watching high school football, sometimes seeing three games on weekends. Harry loved to cook for his family, especially for Memorial Day gatherings. He was a true gentleman with a beautiful smile and twinkle in his eye. In addition to his wife, with whom he shared fifty four years of marriage, he is survived by his two sons, John and his wife, Marisa of Peabody and David and his wife, Jill of Newbury, two grandsons, Alex and Harrison of Newbury, two granddaughters, Zendaya and Melina of Peabody, one brother, Peter, a sister, Mary Psalidas and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Theodore and Georgia. His funeral service will be held at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos Street, Peabody, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in the Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
