Obituary for Catherine Dorsey (Brooks) Catherine Rosalie Dorsey was born on August 29, 1933 in Bel Air, MD to the late Clinton and Courtney Brooks. The 6th of 7 children, she spent the majority of her life surrounded by family and friends that resided close by her Darlington home. Celebrated for her fun and saucy demeanor, she was lovingly known as “Rosie”. She attended the old Clark’s Chapel Elementary School and the Bel Air Colored School where she participated in the debate team with her peers. Working as a Housekeeper for local families for many years, she transferred to the Harford Mall Associates, before retiring after 19 years of service. In retirement, Rosie enjoyed taking her morning walks around Cedar Church Road, sharing Saturday phone calls catching up with family, and tending to her plethora of house plants and flowers. She was a long-standing, dedicated member of Clark’s United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending Sunday morning service among the rest of her church family. We will miss her feisty personality, lively chuckle and endearing smile. She was a woman of indomitable spirit and shared a special bond with her siblings, children, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rosie leaves to cherish her memory : Son and Daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Susan Dorsey; Daughter and Son-in-law, Janet and Steve Simmons; four Grandchildren, Carly Dorsey, Lamar Simmons and wife Ashley, Quentin Simmons and Jamal Simmons, and one Great grandchild, Kaynen Simmons. She also leaves to mourn her passing, surviving siblings: Courtney Stump, Clinton Brooks and Randolph Brooks; Sisters-in-law, Barbara Brooks, Edna Branch, Mary Siebert, Minnie Brooks, and Frankie Dorsey; Brothers-in-law, Charles Dorsey and David Dorsey; a host of nieces and nephews, including her loving niece, Roslyn Jones, her “favorite nephew”, Mike Stump; and Aunt, Constance Cromwell. Rosie is preceded in death by husband Nelson Dorsey; son Kenneth Brooks, brother Sturgis Brooks; and sisters Anna Lucille Webster and Jean M. Stump.
