Obituary for Robert Lee Tompkins Robert Lee Tompkins, age 75, passed away at home on Saturday, May 26, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Lee was born in Hemingway, SC on January 19, 1943, one of eight children born to Bright Tompkins and Clara Cooper Tompkins Vansant. He retired as a sales service engineer in the paper mill industry. Lee was an avid outdoorsman – enjoying gardening, working in the yard, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Lee is survived by his wife, Connie Sue Smith Tompkins, children, Clifton Lee Tompkins and wife Kim, Angela Tompkins and Michael Patrick Riley; grandchildren, Mason Lee Tompkins, Christopher Lee Tompkins (Natalie) and Cory Henry (Claudia); great grandchildren, Leon Tompkins, Nathan Lee Tompkins, Parker Henry and Collin Henry; a brother J.B. Tompkins (Cynthia), and sisters, Reba Rodgers and Gladys Pipkin. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Capital City Christian Church on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Stephen Pattison officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
