Obituary for Robert LeRoy Dietz Jr. Robert LeRoy Dietz, Jr., 67, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away surrounded by his family, Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation: 4- 8 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include his wife, Marie Dietz; son, Robert B. (Erin) Dietz of Monticello, Iowa; daughter, Honna (Tony) Topping of Marion; and loving mother, Ruth Dietz of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tyler, Kaitlyn Topping, Beckett Dietz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Dietz, Sr. and sister, Rose (Alex) Johnson. He was born December 10, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert L. and Ruth (Holmes) Dietz, Sr., where he lived all of his life. On January 1, 1975, Robert married Marie Fadley. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Robert joined the Cedar Rapids Post Office on March 3, 1973 and retired November 1, 2008. He was a union member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch #373, American Legion Post #298, Marion, Iowa and Olivet Presbyterian Church. Robert was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He loved all of them very much. Robert was there for anyone that needed help. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Robert enjoyed hunting, camping and bowling. He had such a great sense of humor and he was a great story-teller of his mail route experiences. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice of Mercy team, doctors, chaplains and many volunteers that came to visit Robert.
