Lisa S. “Mikki” Hines, 48, of Burlington, died at 8:37 AM Friday, May 18, 2018, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born January 15, 1970, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Dennis and Mary Ann Schoof Schleif. She was the soulmate of Michelle “Skeeter” Arnold. Lisa worked in nutrition services at the Great River Klein Center. She was a 1988 graduate of Burlington High School. A lot of the people who knew Lisa knew her as Mikki. When Lisa was young, she was participating in a Sunday school program, and refused to do it unless she had on her Mickey Mouse ears. Mary Ann took one look at her daughter and said “isn’t she beautiful?” She has been Mikki ever since. She was a great singer who hosted karaoke for many years. She loved music and attending concerts. She always put others before herself, took pleasure in giving, always took the high road, and above all, she was FUN. She was an avid Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Survivors include her parents, Mary Ann and Dennis Schleif of Burlington, her soulmate, Michelle “Skeeter” Arnold of Burlington, one nephew, Rob (Sarah) Dein, one niece, Rachel Bedsole, several great nieces and nephews, and her fur babies. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, one sister, Julie Lee, and Skeeter’s Mom, Nellie Irene Arnold. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory. The memorial service for Mikki will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Great River Klein Center with Chaplain David Plooster officiating. Burial will be in North Walker Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society to aid specifically with spaying and neutering pets.
