Obituary for Kenneth M Baker Services for Kenneth Baker, 94, of Chariton will be Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will be at the Norwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Kenneth Martin Baker was born July 4, 1923 at home in Lucas County to Virgil and Bessie (Anderson) Baker. He attended country school and then graduated from Norwood High School in 1941. He was married to Flossie Marie Penick on December 24, 1944. Together they left a legacy of three children: Becky, Mike, and Mary; 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren. After high school he farmed and then started working for the county as an operator running a road grader for 35 years. Kenneth also auctioneered, this fit his love for visiting with people. He owned an auction house in Lucas for 10 years and also worked for several local auction companies. This fit right in with a passion of Kenneth’s, collecting antiques. He loved going to flea markets and auctions to search for unique items. Kenneth became friends with everyone and loved to find connections in who they were or who they were related too. Everyone will remember his fun practical jokes. He loved watching the Chicago Cubs. Kenneth was an outdoorsman. He loved to garden, hunt mushrooms, and especially fish. A few days before he passed he was telling a grandchild that he couldn’t wait to go fishing in heaven. And when he got to heaven Flossie would be waiting for him and would ask, “What took you so long?” Kenneth passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Chariton Specialty Care. Surviving are his children: Becky (Ron) Goodrich, Mike Baker, and Mary (Todd) Enterline; 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sisters: Rita Dixson and Verna Blakey; sisters-in-law: Ruth Baker and Betty Baker; along with a good friend, Bill Jones; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents: Virgil and Bessie Baker; wife, Flossie Baker; and brothers: George and Hollis.
