Obituary for Diane Short-Meek Diane Short-Meek, 53, of Roland, died Friday, May 25, 2018, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A celebration of Diane’s life will be held Monday, June 4, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rides Banquet Center. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Cremation rites will follow the visitation. Diane is survived by her sons, Jonathan Meek, Robert Short and James Short; two grandchildren, Erin Meek and Taylin Meek, her siblings, Doug Meek, Rick Meek, Rod Meek, Cindy Ellsbury, Michelle Trask, Brenda Trask and Kim Snyder. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Wanda (Doiel) Meek, her biological mother Sally Long, and her siblings David Meek and Tracy Trask. Diane was born October 8, 1964 in Shenandoah, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1983. In 1990, she was married to Jim Short. She moved to South Carolina where she attended Horry Georgetown Technical School. For the past ten years, she was employed at Wal-Mart as a customer service manager.
