James Roy Craft, 83, of North Vernon passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Brown County Health and Living in Nashville. Born March 27, 1935 in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Mr. Craft was the son of James Willard and Pearlie Jane Stallard Craft. He married Brenda Sue Cundiff on October 12, 1968 in Bloomington, Indiana. She preceded him in death on June 21, 2014. Mr. Craft worked as a machinist for Reliance Electric/Rockwell in Columbus for 27 years, he had previously worked for Arvin’s Industries in Columbus. He served in the U.S. Army from 12/31/1963 – 10/12/1968. Mr. Craft was member of Indiana Nut Growers Association. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, sitting outdoors on his porch swing, attending antique tractor shows, listening to blue grass music. He played piano and guitar and was a beekeeper, Mr. Craft also enjoyed tree grafting. Survivors include daughters, Brenda (Dean) Schuett of Seymour, and Loretta Thompson of North Vernon; brothers, Dennis Craft and Billy Craft both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Hunter Robbins and Dakota Robbins both of Seymour, Kylie Thompson and Tyler Thompson both of North Vernon and Ashley Thompson of Bloomington; great-grandchildren, Arabella and Addyson Thompson both of North Vernon He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, Kenneth Craft and sister, Betty Lou Downey. A funeral service for Mr. Craft will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 9, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, with military graveside rites. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Premier Hospice in Bloomington.
