CARTERVILLE – Vaughn D. Williams, 77, of Carterville, Illinois, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, following a fall in his home. He was born on September 1, 1940 in Pfeiffer, Arkansas to Byron Richard (Bee) and Justine Williams. Vaughn was a member of Weavers Chapel Baptist Church. He worked for many years in the manufacturing arena before retiring and spending his later years doing the things he loved, hunting, fishing, and sitting on his dock enjoying life and… Read More » his family. Vaughn is survived by his wife of 46 years, Polly; sister, Debra Hill (Joe) of Batesville, AR; daughters, Sheila Kay Mize (Keith) of Cave City, AR and Vaughanda Bowie (Kevin) of Batesville, AR; son, Brian Douglas Williams (Karen) of Herrin, IL; seven grandchildren, Joshua Wright of Brighton, CO, Patrick Bowie and Sean Bowie of Batesville, AR, Cody Mize of Cave City, AR, Sarah Beaver of Phoenix, AZ, Monica Traughber of Phoenix, AZ, and Jerica Traughber of Marion, IL; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at a later date in Batesville, Arkansas. Memorials in Vaughn’s name may be made to St. Francis Care Animal Shelter, 6228 Country Club Road; Murphysboro, IL 62966. Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale assisted the family with arrangements.
