Obituary of Ruth Schaefer Weimer Ruth Ann Schaefer Weimer,88, of Beardstown, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 surrounded by family and friends at her home. She was born June 20, 1929 in Beardstown, the daughter of Martin and Eda Schumacher Schaefer. She married Harold “Junie” Weimer, Jr. on November 19, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2015. She is survived by one daughter, Jacquelyn “Jackie” (husband, Allen) Krohe of Beardstown; one son, James Weimer; six grandchildren, Chris Krohe of Macomb, Nick Krohe of Beardstown, Joshua Weimer, Matt Weimer, Mike Weimer and Jake Weimer; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Weimer was a 1947 graduate of Beardstown High School and a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She volunteered her time at St. Luke’s and Heritage Health Nursing Home visiting with children and the elderly, delivering lunches for Meals On Wheels and making blankets for the needy. In her earlier years she enjoyed playing tennis and working with ceramics. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Beardstown and was honored with being selected as the Grand Marshall in the Beardstown Fall Fun Festival Parade. She had a strong faith in the Lord and a love for her church. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Children’s Miracle Network.
