Anthony on July 6, 1948 in Rock Island He preceded her in death on October 4, 2017. Leona was a devoted homemaker and wonderful mother; but she loved being a grandma. One of her granddaughters wrote the following tribute to her: Made a team you tried out for? You call grandma. Mad at your parents? You call grandma. Just want to talk to someone at midnight? You call grandma and watch Johnny Carson together. Her job was done, and her body tired. Her family is beautiful and happy, generations of “kids” who are blessed with her love, guidance and friendship will continue to share memories of her. In addition to her family, she enjoyed caring for animals, especially her cats, dogs and guinea pigs. She loved being outdoors, tending her flowers, walking and listening to music, especially Conway Twitty. Those left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, David Anthony, Andalusia, Michael and Susan Anthony, Milan, Edward and Mary Anthony, Illinois City, Dianne and Larry White, Moline, and Daniel and Fran Anthony, Matherville; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Carol Chapman, Moline, and Marion Eberts, Matherville; and many nieces, nephews, and other family. Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Mardel and Dale Anderson, and two sisters, Martha Foster and Marjorie Anderson.
