Floyd J. Burlingame, 90, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 5:35 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation in Effingham, Illinois. He was born September 10, 1927 in Jefferson City, Missouri, a son of the late Ivy and Viola (Roark) Burlingame. He married Zelma “Ruth” (Walker) Burlingame on January 17, 1946 and she passed away on December 25, 2013. He had owned and operated Burlingame Construction for many years and proudly served his country with the United States Army. He was a dedicated member of the Pontoon Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He enjoyed woodworking and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Carol Burlingame of Mulberry Grove and David and Davia Burlingame of Pennsylvania; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Jerry Marshall of Florida and Sue and Richard McCarrell of Michigan; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Glen and Donald Burlingame; a sister, Shirley Brown; other extended family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Weeks and two brothers, Warren and Jimmy Burlingame. In celebration of his life, a memorial service will be held at the Pontoon Baptist Church in Pontoon Beach at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 with Reverend Rich McCarrell officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to the Pontoon Baptist Church. Irwin Chapel of Granite City in charge of arrangements.
