Obituary for Eleanor Marie Ha Eleanor Marie Ha, 90, of Kailua, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2018. She was born in Buffalo, New York, to Ransom and Helen (nee Gilbert) Hall. She attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where she graduated in 1949 with a B.S. in Psychiatry and went on to receive a Masters in Social Work. After receiving her masters degree she arrived in Hawaii where she worked as a social worker in the Children’s Hospital in Honolulu before getting married In 1953. Eventually she settled in Kailua where she raised her family. Continuing her professional career as a social worker she spent 30 years working for the State of Hawaii. Two of her most important positions were at the then newly opened Parent and Child Center of Kalihi, where she specialized in aiding children and their families and she then worked as a psychiatric social worker at the Hawaii State Hospital in Kaneohe, for 20 years until her retirement in 1995. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her family, watercolor painting, and reading. Always an avid reader, she was a long-time member of the American Association of University Women, Windward Branch, and also enjoyed attending her monthly book club meetings. She is survived by brother, Kenneth Hall; sister, Marilyn (Hall) Plache; daughters Charlotte, Beverly, and Phyllis; sons Gregory and Bruce; 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
