Obituary for Modean “Moe” Leathers Modean “Moe” Leathers, age 91, of Grayson, GA went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 26, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Donald Leathers; parents, Henry Clay and Estelle Hutchens; four brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by son, Mark R. and Angi Leathers of Monroe, GA; and daughter, Debby L and Charles Richard Mitchell of Grayson, GA; three granddaughters Sherri and Chris Phelan of Snellville, GA, Cindy and Scott Quinlan of Loganville, GA, and Lacy Leathers of Monroe, GA; seven great grandchildren, Dylan Bazzell, Kate Phelan, Drew Phelan, Avalyn Bazzell, Ben Phelan, and Annelise Quinlan; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Moe was born December 29, 1926 in Turner County, GA where she and her six siblings were raised on a farm. After graduating H.S., Moe moved to Atlanta at age 16 to attend secretarial school. In 1944 at age 17, she met and married William Donald Leathers, her lifelong love of almost sixty years. In 1948, Mark was born on Moe’s birthday, and Debby was born in 1951. Moe joined Trust Company Bank in 1956 as a file clerk and later was one of the first women to make Officer with the bank. She was in the Estate Tax Returns Division her entire career until she retired in 1984. Moe loved her church, spending time with family, team sports, bowling, fishing, sewing, and traveling. She was very devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be missed more than words can possibly express. The service Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Leathers will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends, prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at the funeral home.
